Leadership Impact Retreat

I decided to sign up for the Leadership Impact Retreat a few weeks ago. Like it says in the name, it made an impact on me. The main idea behind the retreat was to figure out what kind of leader I am. They wanted us to focus on ourselves and figure out our strengths and weaknesses. We were divided into 6 different groups or teams. I was team 3. Each group had about 4 or 5 freshmen and one leader. The leaders were usually juniors or seniors. My group consisted of Kenny, our leader, Madison, Carrie, and Rosa. We all had different personalities but we got along very well. On the first day we got to know each other and we did many ice breakers. The ice breakers helped us open up to each other. After that, we had a couple of educational sessions. In the sessions, we were informed about the meaning behind Impact. It’s for all of us leaders to grow. The last thing of the night was a motivational speech from Zachary Racy. Zachary’s speech was about getting involved and he informed us that it’s very important. The next day included more educational sessions and more ice breakers. In the afternoon, we played many games. One of the games was Angry Birds. In the game, two teams had to stack cups and make a fortress. The objective was to knock the other team’s fortress down by slingshotting a ball into it. This game was challenging but it impacted me because of how our team worked together. We put our minds together and worked as a team. The last thing of that day was the Flour War. We made flour bombs earlier in the day. The flour war was a fun way to take away all of our stress. The last day was the most impactful. We had a few educational sessions in the morning. One of them was very interesting because we had to build a lego structure. The challenge was that only one person could see the original structure and they had to tell others what it looked like. The people who were told had to tell the people building the structure where to put the legos. It was hard, but it was fun. After the educational sessions, we loaded the bus and drove to Pertile Springs. We played games, ate hotdogs, and made s’mores. The end of the day was special because it was the Impact graduation. The Seniors past the torch onto the juniors and the freshman class stepped up. I loved my experience on the Impact Retreat. It was a long weekend but I’ve made many memories.
This sounds amazing. What a cool way to learn about yourself AND others!
